1. Today is Day 47.
.2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.

4. The Technology staff development is Thursday for certified staff members beginning at 7:30 AM.
5. At the end of each day please take the following steps:
a. Turn off your TV
b. Log off your computers but do not shut them down
c. Turn off all monitors
6. Social Committee dues are $25 and can be paid in a single payment, or installments throughout the year. See Ms. Johnson to work out payment of your dues.
7. Fliers regarding The "Retirement Information Center dates for 2008-2009 are in the lounge and the mail room.
8. Any certified staff member who desires may take annual leave on Friday as long as they have leave to take. Certified staff members who came in early for the August 15 workshop make take Friday, October 30 in return without a full Annual Leave day being deducted. Since they were here for a half day workshop, we are giving them back their half day. If they wish to take the rest of the day and have annual leave they may. Individuals who do not have "Reserved Central Office" staff development on Monday or Tuesday may also take those days off. If you have a workshop on an RC day, you may not take annual leave or trade that day for another one in the calendar.
9. Early voting is now open at Polo Park Recreation Center. It's open from 10:00-7:00 Wednesday and 10:00-5:00 Thursday and Friday. For those who live in the area, it is even open 10:00-1:00 on Saturday. Other early voting sites are at the Forsyth COunty Board of Elections, Carver School Road Library, Clemmons Library, Kernersville Senior Center/Library, Brown & Douglas Recreation Center, Harper Hill Shopping Center, Lewisville Library, Malloy Jordan Heritage Center
Rural Hall Library, Sedge Garden Recreation Center, Southside Library, Walkertown Library and WSSU (Anderson Center). For additional information contact the Forsyth County Board of Education, 703-2800.
10. Please complete the half page "Health Form for when a Child Gets Sick or Hurt" and send it to the office with the child. You have access to more up to date phone numbers than the office does. We expect that teachers will have called parents if at all possible. The office will also call. We would rather have two calls to the parent than none. We are still working on activating phone lines from the classrooms.
