AM Announcements - October 09

AM Announcements
October 09, 2008

1. Today is Day 33.

2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.

3. Calendar items for this week:

Thursday: October 09
Dr. Martin visits Speas - 10:00-12:00

Friday: October 10
Picture Re-takes 8:00-12:00 PM - Gym

4. . Teachers have been given a challenge to have 100% staff participation for the PTA by today at 10:00 AM. After that time they will not receive lunch one day next week cooked by Dr. Reichert. We still have over 20 people who have not joined. Remember that if we as a staff cannot make the statement that "all" of us are behind the PTA, how can we expect our parents to get behind the organization. They do many wonderful things for us and "every" staff member benefits many times over the $3.50 investment. If you haven't joined, take care of that oversight today.

5. Picture re-takes are tomorrow. Every staff member must have tyheir picture taken if they did not do it the first time. These pictures go on the safety CD and are essential.

6. The SIT Teams met yesterday afternoon. Please see your SIT representative for a complete breakdown of the discussion.

7. Dr. Martin visits today. Should he come to your class, just go on with normal business.

8. We received the following Service Desk Notice Wednesday: Over the next few days you may notice a dialog box at login stating Computrace inventory software is being installed. This is completely normal and you should allow the install to complete.

9. At the end of each day please take the following steps:
a. Turn off your TV
b. Log off your computers but do not shut them down
c. Turn off all monitors

10. There will be a student nurse at Speas tomorrow to do BMI's for grades 1 and 4. If you have not scheduled a time please see Ms. Rhodes today.

11. Social Committee is still collecting dues for the 2008-2009 school year. Dues are $25 and can be paid in a single payment, or installments throughout the year. See Ms. Johnson to work out payment of your dues.

12. Ms. Spaventa will be here this Friday and she will be stopping by classrooms to see how she can better integrate her ESL work with what you are doing.

13. Ms. Smith will be staying after school on Thursday and Monday to assist teachers who wish to learn how to download pictures from digital cameras or help with Photo Story. Please let Ms. C. Smith know if you plan on attending. If you plan to use the digital camera, let her know a day ahead so she can insure that one is charged for you.

14. A student in Ms. Zinn's class lost a brown star pendant that goes onher necklace. If you or your students find it, please return it to Ms. Zinn.

15. Trip Jeffers from NCAE will be in the lounge this morning from around 1o:00-12:00. He will have light refreshments and would love to see any of you who are interested in talking about the benefits of NCAE membership.

If you have laminating that you have not picked up, please come to room 15 to pick it up. I have laminating that I need done and since it would not be done until all other laminating was picked up, I took it and it is in my room.
Thank-you
