1. Today is Day 48.
2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.

5. At the end of each day please take the following steps:
a. Turn off your TV
b. Log off your computers but do not shut them down
c. Turn off all monitors
6. Social Committee dues are $25 and can be paid in a single payment, or installments throughout the year. See Ms. Johnson to work out payment of your dues.
7. Fliers regarding The "Retirement Information Center dates for 2008-2009 are in the lounge and the mail room.
8. Upcoming dates for your calendar:
a. November 10 - Report cards go home
b. November 11 - No School
c. November 13 - "Make It, Take It" night
d. December 02 - Holiday Program
e. December 06 - Holiday Open House - The Reichert's House
f. December 12 - Speas Meeting with Dr. Martin
9. A sign-up sheet for first quarter review conferences will be placed in the mail room today. Please sign -up for a time that is convenient for you. Please check with theother individuals on your grade level so that everyone uses a similar form. We want to review the performance of every child and put strategies in place to help them be successful.
10. If your Family Fun Night group needs anything in preparation for Friday night, please let us know now so we can make sure everything is ready.
11. This is the first day of the second quarter. Everyone starts off with a clean slate academically and behaviorally. Stress this with your students.
12. There is a SIT meeting in the media center this afternoon from 2:40-4:00. All staff members are welcome to come and express their opinions.
13. Man is the only animal that can remain on friendly terms with the victims he intends to eat until he eats them.
