October 10, 2008
1. Today is Day 34.
2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.
3. Calendar items for this week:

Picture Re-takes 8:00-12:00 PM - Gym
4. Sonmeone broke a large internal component of the HIVE copier yesterday. We don't know who even though we would have appreciated knowing when it was broken. We have called it in and are awaiting its repair. Please submit all copying jobs to Ms. RHodes in the office until further notice.
5. Picture re-takes are today. We have extra company package envelopes in the office.
6. SIP Committee assignments and information will be placed in boxes today.
7. Dr. Martin had a very good visit and enjoyed talking to many of you. He was very complimentary of what he saw especailly the writing lessons which were going on in many rooms. He really thought the floors looked great in the halls and complimented Mr. Cokley and Mr. Ireland. Both school board members, Ms. Motsinger and Ms. Tackaberry were also very complimentary. They said it was truly a pleasure to visit Speas. Thanks for your efforts to provide them with a good visit. Even more, I didn't see anything you wouldn't any day in your classrooms.
8. The revised Title-1 schedule will be placed in boxes today and we will implement on Monday.
9. At the end of each day please take the following steps:
a. Turn off your TV
b. Log off your computers but do not shut them down
c. Turn off all monitors
10. There will be a student nurse here today at Speas to do BMI's for grades 1 and 4. If you have not scheduled a time please see Ms. Rhodes.
11. Social Committee is still collecting dues for the 2008-2009 school year. Dues are $25 and can be paid in a single payment, or installments throughout the year. See Ms. Johnson to work out payment of your dues.
12. Ms. Spaventa will be here today stopping by classrooms to see how she can better integrate her ESL work with what you are doing.
13. Ms. Smith will be staying after school Monday to assist teachers who wish to learn how to download pictures from digital cameras or help with Photo Story. Please let Ms. C. Smith know if you plan on attending. If you plan to use the digital camera, let her know a day ahead so she can insure that one is charged for you.
14. Trip Jeffers from NCAE enjoyed meeting many of you in the lounge. Any time you have questions or concerns for NCAE, please see Ms. Linhart who is our represntative or call Mr. Jerffers.
15. Time is that quality of nature which keeps events from happening all at once. Lately it doesn't seem to be working.
