8. The student scheduled to do BMI screening did not show up. We do not know why. Ms. Alston had planned everything very well and WSSU confirmed the times on Thursday. We do not know when this will be made up. We will keep you informed.

9. At the end of each day please take the following steps:
a. Turn off your TV
b. Log off your computers but do not shut them down
c. Turn off all monitors

10. I will be off-campus this afternoon after 4:00 PM at an Equity+ Principals' meeting.

11. Social Committee is still collecting dues for the 2008-2009 school year. Dues are $25 and can be paid in a single payment, or installments throughout the year. See Ms. Johnson to work out payment of your dues.

12. Ms. Smith will be staying after school today to assist teachers who wish to learn how to download pictures from digital cameras or help with Photo Story. Please let Ms. C. Smith know if you plan on attending. If you plan to use the digital camera, let her know a day ahead so she can insure that one is charged for you.

14. The media center will be closed this week as the books are boxed up and removed in order for the carpet to be removed; a moisture barrier applied and new tile laid. We realize that this is an inconvenience but we could not wait until the end of the month. This had to be taken care of now. Ms. Fussell will conduct her lessons in the classrooms until the job is complete.

15. Ms. Powell will be off-campus today and tomorrow. Dr. Reichert will be off-campus at a Leadership Winston-Salem retreat on Wednesday and Thursday. Ms. Powell and Ms. Marston will be off-campus Friday afternoon at classroom walk-through training.

H. L. Mencken (1880 - 1956), on Shakespeare

There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.
