1. Today is Day 31.


.2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.

Tuesday: Ocotber 07
Joint Principals' Meeting - 7:30-12:00 - Hawthorne Inn - Reichert Off-campus
Naglieri Test - Grade 3 - 8:00-12:00
Pastries for Grand Parents - 10:30-1:00
SIT - 2:45 PM - Media Center
A's and Bees Tutoring - 6:00-8:00 pm


Wednesday: October 08
Elementary Assistant Principal's meeting - 9:30-12:00 - Ms. Powell off-campus


Thursday: October 09
Dr. Martin visits Speas - 10:00-12:00


Friday: October 10
Picture Re-takes 8:00-12:00 PM - Gym


4. . Teachers have been given a challenge to have 100% staff participation for the PTA by tomorrow and they will receive lunch one day next week cooked by Dr. Reichert.


5. If you have laminating that you have not picked up, please get it today. Ms. Rhodes will begin laminating again once teachers have picked up all the other laminting she has done.


6. The SIT Teams meets this afternoon at 2:45 PM. All staff members are welcome to attend and voice their opinion on the matters that concern our school. Some of the items on the agenda will be:

a. School Improvement Team Committees and timetables
b. Duty Free lunch schedule
c. Grade Planning Time - Amount, schedule, reporting, duration and administrator coverage
d. Media Center classes - scheduled and flexible
e. Family Fun Night expectations
f. Dr. Martin's visit Thursday and Speas presentation to Dr. Martin on 12/12
g. Budget update as of 10/1


7. Family Fun Night Schedules are due by Friday, October 10, 2008 to Mrs. Fletcher. Certified Staff please keep in mind this event does require your attendance and participation. All classified members who decide to volunteer will receive COMP time.


8. October 30-November 4. These days are not a fall break in the traditional sense. The first two are RS days and the last two are RC days. Certified staff members have technology staff development on October 30. October 31 is reserved for teachers to do report cards. Certified staff may choose to take it off if they have annual leave. November 03 and 04 are both reserved central office days. Certified staff members may not take these days off if they have central office staff development scheduled. Classified staff may take any of the four days off if they are not participating in the technology workshop or if they have no central office staff development scheduled.
