One of the pen pals who was here took me aside and said, "You really have a good school here. I have been in many schools and your children are so well behaved and mannerly." 11. Mr. Ireland is out sick today which has resulted in a delay of this posting.

12. Please read the e-mail I forwarded to the staff this morning regarding the possible furlough day we discussed in Staff Meeting on Tuesday. The memo from Kerry Crutchfield, our finance officer, explains the current budget situation and the circumstances that would be necessary in order for us to have to use the furlough day. If you have other questions, I will do my best to answer them.

13. As I checked rooms this morning I noted a lot of trash, crayons, pencils, books and other items on the floors. I also noted that many rooms did not have chairs on top of their desks. It is very difficult to clean rooms when the chairs are down and you have to continually pick up items off the floor that cannot be vacuumed. Please have your children pick up all large items off the floors, including pencils, crayons, books, papers and instructional materials as the last thing you do before the end of the day.

7. We continue to have significant problems with classes not cleaning up after themselves in the cafeteria. Each teacher is responsible for making sure the tables and floors are clean when their classes leave. This may be accomplished by a group of students or the teacher assistant in grades K-2. Remember that of you allow students to sit in the Honey Pot Cafe, those tables and the floor must be cleaned when the students leave. This is a matter of common courtesy. Also please work with your students to make certain that they do not stack trays in the tray disposal; they wait for Mr. Hummings; and they do not drop trash all along the way and not pick it up. Thesesteps will make everyone's cafeteria experience much more pleasant. Thanks for your cooperation in these matters.

8. The state-wide tornado drill will take place today at 9:30. Please be sure to practice the tornado procedure with your class prior to that tiem. Also remind your students that if they are not with you, they should join the nearest class no matter what grade level it might be and remain with them until the end of the drill. They should never try to get back to their home room in an emergency situation.

9. The weekend is supposed to be glorious. Get outside with your family and enjoy these early spring days.

10. Ms. C. Smith has sent some e-mails to the staff regarding actions that are being taken by our technology department to help clean our network for viruses and trojans. Please follow exactly what she tells you to do. If you have any links on your web page that go outside the WS/FCS firewall, please delete them. They are not protected and can be the vehicle for a virus, worm or trojan to enter our system/network.

7. REMINDER TO ALL STAFF MEMBERS: When WS/FCS is operating on a delay, staff members are expected to report at their normal time. If it is unsafe to travel and they must arrive late, they are expected to make up their time by remaining after their normal departure time. At no point should the workday be less than 7 hours. (Individuals who arrived late yesterday have been addressed.)

8. The state-wide tornado drill will take place tomorrow at 9:30. PLease be sure to practice the tornado procedure with your class prior to that tiem. Also remind your students that if they are not with you, they should join the nearest class no matter what grade level it might be and remain with them until the end of the drill. They should never try to get back to their home room in an emergency situation.

9. Several individuals have received an e-mail requesting their participation in a date/time study for Medicaid. This is a federal requirement for EC reimbursement and must be done according to the time frame in the e-mail. Don't look at this as a burden, it helps provide needed revenue to meet student needs. Do feel singled out, I have to do today as well.

10. Ms. C. Smith is off-campus all week attending a session of NCCAT. Ms. Calhoun is serving as her sub.

11. If parents provide you change of address or telephone number it is imperative that this information be given to Ms. Fletcher immediately. Send her and e-mail as soon as you get the change. Transportation is now linked to NCWISE and if the new address does not match what is in NCWISE, they will not be transported to their new location. These changes are now critical to getting our students home safely. Mopst address changes are sent to the teacher. It becomes your responsibility to communicate this to the office.
