4. The PTA Parent Night on Tuesday - Meet the Principal - is for parents who want to come and talk with me. It does not require the attendance of any other staff members. We thought it would be a good idea to offer a day once each moth when parents could come in and talk if they desired to. We attached it to A's and Bees Tutoring because we wanted to boost student attendance. We also have McDonalds Night and need volunteers to work an hour each behind the counter. Do you have time to support our school?

5. At the end of each day please take the following steps:

a. Turn off your TV
b. Log off your computers but do not shut them down
c. Turn off all monitors

6. Social Committee is still collecting dues for the 2008-2009 school year. Dues are $25 and can be paid in a single payment, or installments throughout the year. See Ms. Johnson to work out payment of your dues

7. The Junior League Puppet Show for third grade students is normally held in the media center. Due to the new floor, the media center will not be available and the puppet show will be held in the gym. Ms. Alston will move any classes she is teaching outside.

8. Mr. McCann, our Colonial Penn representative, will be here to discuss the flexible benefits plan and other policies today and Thursday of next week. Please be sure to sign up to talk with him. The sheets are in the lounge.

9. Pennies for Patients drive is extended until Friday, October 24.

10. Make sure you turn in your AR Benchmarks to Ms. Fussell. You can place them in her box.

11. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon and will be off-campus from 3:00 PM on. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow and will leave immediately following the staff development. On Wednesday afternoon I have a WS/FCS Staff Policy Committee meeting and will be off-campus after 3:30.

12. This week we begin quarter testing. Please be aware of the schedule. I would like for teachers in grades K-2 to send Ms. Powell a listing of how the Title-1 teachers can assist them with their K-2 assessments.

13. It is not worth an intelligent man's time to be in the majority. By definition, there are already enough people to do that.
G. H. Hardy (1877 - 1947)

Humanity is acquiring all the right technology for all the wrong reasons.
R. Buckminster Fuller (1895 - 1983)

The Constitution gives every American the inalienable right to make a damn fool of himself.
John Ciardi (1916 - 1986)

To be able to fill leisure intelligently is the last product of civilization, and at present very few people have reached this level.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970), Conquest of Happiness (1930) ch. 14

Would it be possible to turn in AR goals on Thursday? This would give the kids a few more days - I have some that will need it.
