1. Today is Day 18.

2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.3. Calendar items for this week:

5. Pre-K staff members who have not returned their Staff and Training worksheets to me should do so by Monday, September 21 before they go home.

6. We have made the following additional changes to Morning Duty stations: Ms. C. Smith and Ms. Childers will be in the cafeteria for purposes of supervision.

7. The master calendar for the year has been set. Please check with your SIT representative for further information or look up the group calendar from the link you were given by Cathy Smith

8. We have placed flyers for Discovery Place on the counter under the sign-in board in the mail room.

9. I am in need of certified and classified staff members to work after school in our 3rd and 5th grade tutoring program. The pay is $25 p/h for certified and $17 to $22 for classified depending on qualifications. Drop me an e-mail if you are interested. Tutoring takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and will begin in October.

10. Please note that the WS/FCS mail servers will be down for 24 hours beginning at 5:00 PM on Friday, September 18. The servers will be down for routine maintenance. You will not be able to access e-mail via Blackberry, Lotus Notes or I-Notes platforms.

11. I will be off-campus this morning beginning at 7:40 for a meeting of the Move Committee at central office.

12. Each grade level/specialist group should select an individual that they believe could serve as the leader of their PLC and send the name to me by Monday afternoon at 3:30. From that group Ms. Powell and I will select two individuals to attend the training on September 29 at 8:00 AM. The two individuals who are trained by the systems will then come back and train the other PLC leaders selected by their grade level/specialist group. Following this training, all PLC will begin meeting formally during their planning time.

13. Please send all Safety Patrol members to the cafeteria immediately following Morning Broadcast so they can meet with Ms. Powell.
