1. Today is Day 49.

2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.

Family Fun Night

5. We have told you over the last few weeks to turn off your TV's and monitors but only log off your computer. That is now changed. TURN ALL TV's, MONITORS and COMPUTER (CPU's) off every day when you leave. Dr. Martin did a study and found that leaving all our CPU's on all the time cost the school system $438,000 a year. Therefore, we are turn turn them off when we leave at the end of the day.

6. Social Committee dues are $25 and can be paid in a single payment, or installments throughout the year. See Ms. Johnson to work out payment of your dues.

7. Fliers regarding The "Retirement Information Center" dates for 2008-2009 are in the lounge and the mail room.

8. Upcoming dates for your calendar:
a. November 10 - Report cards go home
b. November 11 - No School
c. November 13 - "Make It, Take It" night
d. December 02 - Holiday Program
e. December 06 - Holiday Open House - The Reichert's House
f. December 12 - Speas Meeting with Dr. Martin

9. A sign-up sheet for first quarter review conferences will be placed in the mail room today. Please sign -up for a time that is convenient for you. Please check with the other individuals on your grade level so that everyone uses a similar form. We want to review the performance of every child and put strategies in place to help them be successful.

10. If your Family Fun Night group needs anything in preparation for Friday night, please let us know now so we can make sure everything is ready.

11. We are asking staff members if they would be willing to donate a cake to the Cake Walk. If you can, please let Ms. Fletcher know and bring your cake tomorrow morning.

12. There is a PTA Board meeting tonight at 5:00 PM.

13. We were notified by Jefferson Elementary that children's author Will Clay will be here at Speas today to talk to our students from 1:30-2:15. We will set aside a place in the gym where your students can place their book bags so you will not have to return to the classroom before dismissal.

14. We will be meeting next Monday and Thursday afternoons on our SIT plan rough draft. You will receive your committee assignments today. Please plan on this.
