1. Today is Day 36.

2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.

5. Thank you for your opinions yesterday on what can be done to relieve the stress folks find themselves under. We will work on what we can and do our best to help.

6. "The NED Show" items are on sale each morning this week in room #7 until 7:55 AM.

7. Ms. Badarin will offer a Smart Board workshop in her room on Thursday, October 22 from 2:40-3:40. Ms. Jewell will provide snacks.

8. If you wish to serve on the lesson plan committee, please make that wish known by Thursday. The committee will report to Ms. Powell and the form they design will be the one we use.

9. Mr. Randy Fulton, principal at Mineral Springs Middle School was named Principal of the Year yesterday. Mineral Springs Middle can now boast both the Teacher of the Year for 09-10 and the Principal of the Year for 09-10. Quite an accomplishment.

10. On the PTA Board in the front lobby are the names of parents and staff members who have joined PTA. Please consider adding your name on a star. It's only $5.00 and it goes to support the work of the PTA and benefit our students.

11. Yesterday I incorrectly announced that Mike would not be back until October 23. He will actually be out until November 02.

12. Mayor Joines has asked that all flags be lowered to half staff for the remainder of the week in honor and memory of Sgt. Mickey Hutchens who passed away Monday from injuries incurred in the line of duty. Please keep all our public servants, police, fire, EMS and out military in your thoughts as they defend and protect us each day.

13. We are already over halfway to our United Way goal. Please consider a gift as our parents and students benefit directly from your generosity. The size of the gift is up to you. In this time of economic crisis, the demands on United Way agencies are greater than ever.

14. I would like to meet with individuals who desire to work in the afterschool tutoring program this afternoon at 2:45 in the media center. The meeting will last about 30 minutes.

15. Ms. Chitty will be out today. Ms. Taylor has the work for her students.
