1. Today is Day 112.

2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.

3. Calendar items for this week:

Friday: February 27

Teacher Evaluation training - Ms. Powell off -campus all day

Box Tops for Education collected

UNCC Recruiting Trip - Reichert Off-campus - 9:00-5:00

4. At the end of each day, please do the following:

a. CLOSE ALL BLINDS

b. TURN OFF ALL MONITORS and COMPUTERS (CPU's)

5. I spoke with Rose Rusch on Wednesday afternoon and it appears that her treatment regimen will be longer and more extensive than she originally planned. As a result she will not be released to return to work until sometime in the fall. Thinking of the children first, she has determined that she will release her teaching position here so that we can employ someone on a full-time basis. She has been in touch with Lynn Foltz, who directs all WSFCS art programs, and she believes that other positions will be available for her at the point when she is able to come back. It was with great reluctance that I accepted the voluntary release of her position.

h. March 27 - Dollar Dress Down Day

i. April 1-3 - Spring Break

7. Please note the preview schedule for the Book Fair that was sent out on Thursday afternoon. If there is a conflict of some type, please contact Ms. Fussell. Please be prompt according to the time you have been given.

8. I will be off-campus today on a recruiting trip to UNC-Charlotte. Ms. Powell will be off-campus all day as well attending the second day of training on the new teacher evaluation instrument.

9. Teacher's in grade 3 and 5 who have tutoring students should remind them that they are to stay for the entire tutoring session. Students who leave early will not be given credit for completing the session.
