1. Today is Day 109.
2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.

Technology staff-development - 2:45-4:15

Curriculum Coordinators' meeting - 8:00-4:00 - Ms. Marston off-campus
Author Susan Crummel visits Speas - 8:15-9:15 - gym (classes will not be called)
Jump Rope for Heart - 12:15 - gym - Ms. Alston directs
Thursday: February 26
WS/FC Science Fair - SciWorks
Title-1 Parent Involvement Audit
Friday: February 27
Teacher Evaluation training - Ms. Powell off -campus alll day
Box Tops for Education collected
UNCC Recruiting Trip - Reichert Off-campus - 9:00-5:00
4. At the end of each day, please do the following:
a. CLOSE ALL BLINDS
b. TURN OFF ALL MONITORS and COMPUTERS (CPU's)
5. If grade four teachers have taken totals for books read over the last 3 weeks for the MEAC Challenge, please report them to me today so I can turn them in.
6. Upcoming dates for your calendar:
a. March 3 - SIT
b. March 6-13 - Book Fair
c. March 9-10 - Really Big Night afternoon rehearsals
d. March 10 - Really Big Night - 7:00-8:30
e. March 18 - Dental Screening

7. Today is Fat or Shrove Tuesday! In Liberal, Kansas, they celebrate by having a Pancake Race. Women race against each other and the women of Olney, England every Shrove Tuesday since 1950. Liberal holds the lead 28-24 over Olney.
8. If anyone asks you about registering for Kindergarten, remind them that beginning this year, children must turn five (5) on or before August 31.
9. The Art's Council Fund Drive ends soon. Don't miss your chance to help us reach 100%.
10. Ms. Fletcher will be off-campus at NCWISE Data Manager training all day.
11. Fifth grade students need to turn in their parent Surveys by tomorrow. We will pay students a $1.00 for bringing back a completed Parent Survey. Fifth grade teacher should advise the office if they have done the student surveys with their classes. If not, I would like to meet with all fifth grade students regarding this once the last second grade class has left the lunch room today.
12. Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons.
