7. The family of Justin Davis had a fire last Sunday caused by a faulty water heater in his room. All of his clothes and toys were ruined. Also, his bunk beds were burnt, as well as bed linens. Right now the family is in a motel courtesy of the Red Cross. They will be there for another week and then will be moving in with a friend until the house is repaired. Justin's room had the most damage, but most of the items in the house have severe smoke damage. Right now the family needs clothing for the children. The sizes are as follows:
Jarrod - 9th grade at Mt Tabor age 14 sizes 32/30 pants, shirt- large men's
Justin - size 16 pants, lg boy's shirt, size 6 men's shoes
A baby girl - 18 months --size 24 months to 2T
The family lost their TV and could use any household items once they get back in the house. Also they will need sheets, comforters and Justin will need a new bed, mattress and bed linens.
If anyone has anything to donate, used or new, please let Cyndy or Vicki know and they will coordinate it and get it to the family.

8. If anyone asks you about registering for Kindergarten, remind them that beginning this year, children must turn five (5) on or before August 31.

9. The Dollar Dress Down Day for February has been moved to February 13 to coincide with Pastries for Parents.

10. Officer Ruff's grandmother passed away in Virginia on Saturday. She will be there today for the funeral and will return to Speas on Wednesday to resume her regular class schedule.

11. We have three WFU education interns who will be with us for the spring semester. Their names are Margaret Little, Kelly Erb and Laura Underwood. They will each be assigned to one teacher and must observe 2 hours per week for 10 weeks for a total of 2o hours. If you would like to have an intern, please send me an e-mail so we can consider you.

12. Ms. Powell had a purple paper pocket folder that contained documentation for our Title-1 notebook. This notebook was on the table by the fax machine and mysteriously disappeared last week. If you picked it up inadvertently, please return it to her. It is a very important piece of our documentation and cannot be replicated. Thanks for looking to see if you might have it.

13. Nancy Martin of the Title-1 office will be here tomorrow conducting classroom visits. She will arrive around 10:15 and do from 6-10 visits of randomly selected classrooms.

14. The word 'politics' is derived from the word 'poly', meaning 'many', and the word 'ticks', meaning 'blood sucking parasites'.
