7. The SIT Team made a number of decisions yesterday. Among these are the following:

a. They determined not to buy the Imagine It reading program at this time.
b. To continue to fund the Technology Coordinator's position as a Certified position using Theme money.
c. To maintain funding for the 3.2 positions using a combination of Title-1 funds and other allocations.

Be sure to talk with your representative and check out the minutes on the Shared Volume.

8. The following information was sent to Curriculum Coordinators, Assistant Principals and Principals last night around 9:00 PM. It came from Charlene Davis, Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education. It may directly impact some of the decisions SIT made in the previous paragraph:

If you have been keeping up with the news, you may be aware that there will be further budget cuts. The theme budgets may be cut to $20,000 for each school and foreign language may be cut completely. We will keep you informed as changes are made.

Should these cuts become reality, it would almost certainly mean that we would lose personnel through the surplus process or non renewal of contracts. The number would be dependent on the specific amount of the cuts. It would also mean that there would be shifting of positions in order to place the appropriate people in the remaining positions.

9. If you have not completed the survey from WSSU regarding Gang Activity please do it today before you go home. This is a system-wide survey. Thanks in advance for your response.

10. The address of the blog for staff comment on the information presented to SIT last Tuesday is:

This is valuable information for SIT. As noted above we may have to make a number of unanticipated changes and we need the opinions of all staff members.
