a. 4/19 - AR Celebration - 4-5 - 8:00-8:45 AM
b. 4/20 - AR Celebration - 2-3 - 8:00-8:45 AM

5. Don't forget to take the Governor's Working Conditions Survey. It can be done from any computer connected to the internet at the following address: http://www.ncteachingconditions.org/

Currently Speas participation rate is at 76.60% with 36 of 47 individuals responding. If you have not responded, please do so today and get this out of the way. The last day is Friday and all schools are expected to be over 90% at that time.

6. The Teacher Notification of Intent web site is open, and available to teachers via the Employees page of the WS/FCS web site. All full-time teachers need to complete an intent form (there is a different process for part-time teachers). The deadline is April 16th.

• Go to the WS/FCS home page at http://wsfcs.k12.nc.us/
• Click on the red “Employees” tab
• Under the “Administration” heading, click on the link for “WSFCS Administrative Resources”
• In the right hand column under “Employee Related Data Entry”, click on the link “Teacher Notification of Intent Decisions”
• Log in like you would to register for a workshop
• Click on “Enter/Edit Teacher Notification of Intent”
• Review the information page, then enter your SSN in the secure box at the bottom of the page to go to the Teacher Intent form and make your elections
• You can edit or adjust your elections as often as you like between now and April 16th

We still have 7 certified employees who have not responded. Please take care of this by Friday when the window closes.

7. Today is Young Authors' Day. Celebrate the wonderful work your students have done! There will be many parents in the building. Be of assistance if you see any who need help. Please follow Ms. marston's directions regarding groups and time frames so that we can make this truly meaningful and memorable for our students and parents. I have read some really great stuff in the lead in to today.

8. There is No Classified Intent Form this year because classified employees can promote during the school year and with HR and Assistant Superintendent approval they can also transfer.

9. Pledge cards for the United Negro College Fund have been placed in your boxes by Ms. Odom. Please consider a generous contribution. In my research I have studied a great deal about historically black colleges and universities. They have performed admirably in the face of overwhelming odds. They need your support to continue their work. Money donated through WS/FCS funds teacher education scholarships and those individuals return to work for our school system. Help the best and the brightest! Their future is in your hands.

10. All God's children are not beautiful. Most of God's children are, in fact, barely presentable.
Fran Lebowitz (1950 - )

In every American there is an air of incorrigible innocence, which seems to conceal a diabolical cunning.
A. E. Housman (1859 - 1936)

Everybody believes in something and everybody, by virtue of the fact that they believe in something, use that something to support their own existence.
Frank Zappa (1940 - 1993)

Well, the telling of jokes is an art of its own, and it always rises from some emotional threat. The best jokes are dangerous, and dangerous because they are in some way truthful.
Kurt Vonnegut (1922 - 2007), Interview, Mcsweeneys.net
