5. We received the architect's drawings yesterday of the proposed renovation of Speas to begin in 2009. Please review them and make your opinions know about what works and what doesn't. Send any comments to me in an e-mail and I will make them known to operations and the architect. Do not concern yourself with how we will operate during the construction period. All we want to know is whether or not we can conduct school in the building they are proposing and what changes may be necessary. We appreciate your input. As soon as the plans are posted, we will let you know where they are so you can review them. Feel free to ask questions. I will do my best to answer them. The drawings will be posted as soon as I get some additional ones from the architect. Remember that none of this is set in stone until the school board approves the plans.
6. There is a display by Book are Fun in the media center. Orders may be placed through today and delivered tomorrow.
7. Upcoming dates for your calendar:
a. December 06 - Holiday Open House - The Reichert's House
b. December 12 - Speas Meeting with Dr. Martin
8. Classified staff members may depart at 2:30 PM on December 18 and 19. Ms. Rhodes, Ms. Higgins, Ms. Fletcher, Mr. Ireland and Mr. Cokley will leave two hours earlier than their normal times on December 19. That means that the building will close at 4:00 PM on December 19. Please place this on your calendars.
9. Thanks to everyone who made yesterday's Holiday Program a success. Special thank to Mr. Baker for all his hard work. Thanks as well to all the individuals who stepped up to decorate the gym for our parents and students. It was great to see people fill the void left by Ms. Rusch's illness without being asked. Thanks to everyone who provided crowd control, student supervision, sales of shirts and coffee, and all the myriad other things necessary to pull off a program of this type. Parents had a great time. Our student participation was significantly increased, especially in the upper grades. Way to go Speas!
10. Pre-K teachers should let me know today about how their plan for their storage sheds.
11. If you would like me to read a version of The Night Before Christmas to your class December 08-19, please sign-up on the sheet in the mail room.
12. Our Superkids officer, Kim Ruff, will be here December 15 through February 06. Kindergarten, Second and Fifth grades should sign-up for sessions on the sheet in the mail room by the sign-in sheet.
