5. Please turn off your SmartBoards when they are not in use. Blubs for the data projector are only designed for approximately 1000 hours. There is not sense wasting time on the bulb when the board is not in use. Bulbs cost around $300 each.
6. On Friday someone used a roll key to set the exit doors to the playground outside rooms 27 and 28 in the open position. All doors to the outside are to be locked as part of our safety plan. Mr. Ireland did not do it. Mr. Cokley did not work and neither Ms. Powell or I rolled it. We had no maintenance men working in that area either. That means that it was a staff member.
7. Student Council Information:
* The Student Council will be collecting items each month for Samaritan Ministries. If you would like to contribute there will be a box in room 3. This months items are: Sugar, Soap (Sample Size), or Disposable Razors.
* Thanksgiving Can Food Drive Begins: Monday, November 9, 2009 - Friday, November 13, 2009 - Please refer to the flyer that went home last Monday to see what items your grade level is collecting.
8. A CD of Veterans Day activities has been placed in the media center. Please check with Ms. Childers if you would like to use it as we approach Veterans Day on November 11.
9. If you're not doing anything the night of December 11, we could use your help with the PTA Sleepover.
10. Dr. Martin has taped his latest, "In Touch" video for November. These videos, done monthly, are short (5-9 min.) videos covering important topics to staff members and the school system. You can find them on the WS/FCS website at the "Quick Links" section under the heading "District Videos." Then click on "Superintendent's Monthly Message (In Touch). November's message deals with Professional Learning Communities.
11. Sometimes I worry about being a success in a mediocre world.
Lily Tomlin (1939 - )
When a man says he approves of something in principle, it means he hasn't the slightest intention of putting it into practice.
Otto von Bismarck (1815 - 1898)
You must learn from the mistakes of others. You can't possibly live long enough to make them all yourself.
Sam Levenson (1911 - 1980)
The only thing that lasts longer than a friend's love is the stupidity that keeps us from knowing any better.

Do teachers have roll keys?
No, teachers are not issued roll keys. Roll keys are simply "hex" or "allen" wrenches. They are part of virtually every toolkit bought anywhere and are readily available at any hardware store. There is nothing unique about them. Our doors may be rolled using a 3/16th in. wrench. The front doors and breezeway doors in both buildings are the only doors rolled each day. Neither the custodians nor administrators ever roll the door to the playground. This is because every teacher has a key and they are to be locked at all times for safety. If you remember we had a problem last year with someone placing rocks in the door to prevent it from closing completely and locking. This is just a more advanced way to accomplish the same thing.
