1. Today is Day 72.

2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.

3. Calendar items for this week:

Friday: December 11
Science Fair take down
Fifth Grade Pen Pal Holiday Celebration - 1:00-2:00 - Cafeteria
Holiday Sleepover - 7:00 PM - 8:30 AM

4. Upcoming Calendar Items:
a. 12/14-12/17 - Spirit Week
b. 12/15 - PTA/Student Council Staff Breakfast
c. 12/17 - Holiday Parties - 1:00-2:00
d. 12/18 - Student Council Holiday trip

5. Make sure that you have updated your web page by today.

6. If you have not gone on-line and filled out your Criminal Background Check form, you have until next Monday, December 14.

7. If you are participating in Secret Santa, please don't forget.

8. Science Fair projects should be taken down today.

9. Plants in the front lobby are watered every Thursday. Please do not take it upon yourself to water in between. It results in a flood in the lobby that has to be cleaned up. Thanks.
10. many of you remember Shirley Fennel from the cafeteria. George Fennell, her husband, passed away yesterday morning. PLease keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Shirley worked in kitchen with Barbara for 4 yrs.
 
11. Student Council items:
 
a. Student Council Members need to come to Room 3 on the following days to prepare for our Nursing Home Visit:

Friday, December 11: 1st and 2nd Grade - 10:10 a.m in Room 3
Monday, December 14: 3rd - 4th - 5th - 1:15 p.m. in Room 3 (Bring book bags for dismissal)

b. Spirit Week begins today and the following committee members need to report each day to the cafeteria at 1:45 p.m. for judging:
Tierra Wilson , Chloe Fletcher, Kelis Cochrane, Jamore Brown, Nikeyta Parker, Tyriese Kimbrough

c. Thanks to all the staff members who donated items for the month of November to the Samaritan Ministries. This month we are collecting the following items: Dish Towels, Bib Aprons, or Men's Warm Winter Gloves. We will deliver these items on Friday, December 18, 2009.

d. Thank you for all your donations toward purchasing items for our families that are less fortunate this holiday season. We will be wrapping gifts on Monday, December 14, 2009 in Room 3 in the afternoon ; please feel free to stop and in and see all the gifts that your donations help to provide.

e. The following students need to meet in room 3 to wrap gifts @ 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2009:
Christa Fletcher, Kaycee Adkins, Sakurra Walters, Cameron Parker, John McClurkin, Daniela Hernandez, and Lee Sales.

f. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 - All Student Council Members will need to meet in the gym at 1:15 p.m. with their things to practice music for our Nursing Home Visit.

11. Pray for your fellow staff members who are staying over tonight for the sleepover.

12. Night Before Christmas readings today: 8:15 - Kooken; 11:00 - Kelly; 12:15 - Smutek

13. Right after the first of the year, all teachers will have the opportunity to visit other classrooms either here at Speas or throughout the school system. Please give some thought to where you would like to go and what you would like to see. These visits can be either individual or by grade level. Speas will pick up the cost of a sub for half the day as part of staff development. We would like all visits to be completed during the month of January.
