AM Announcements

1. Today is Day 21.

4. There will be an ESL Parent Meeting tonight from 7:00-8:00 PM. We will be having a Hot Dog Supper as well in the cafeteria.

5. This Friday is Dollar Dress Down Day. Please talk this up with your students. The money raised goes a long way toward funding student council and PTA projects.

6. The PTA Membership Drive ended on Friday. Only 32 members of the staff joined. This was probably an oversight for many people so we have extended the enrollment period just for staff members. There is still time to join. Dues are $3.50 per person.

7. EVAAS data has been uploaded to the website. If you need help in accessing it, please see Ms. Powell, Ms. Marston or me for assistance. Data is available for grades 4 and 5.

8. Social Committee dues are still being collected. About half the staff has paid their dues. The Social Committee does many wonderful things for all of us. We need your support because you benefit. Social Committee dues are $25 for the year.

9. If you are interested in earning a Masters Degree in Reading, ASU is holding two meetings to discuss program information. They are at the Yadkin Center - Room 202, 4649 Hwy 601 in Yadkinville, NC at 4:30 PM or UNC School of the Arts, Work[place West V (5) - Room 113 at 1922 S. Main St., Winston-Salem at 7:00 PM. Both sessions are this Thursday, September 25th.

10. Certified staff should remember to put October 2 on their calendars. This is "Make It, Take It" night and attendance is mandatory. This item has been in Bee Lines for several weeks and on the master calendar since mid-August. There should be no questions regarding attendance.

11. Often students who are sent to the office wind up assigned to in-school suspension. Teachers who have students assigned should remember the following things:
a. Students should be sent immediately following morning broadcast
b. Ms. Summey leaves at q11:30 on Fridays
c. Teachers are individually responsible for planning the work for the entire day.
Ms. Summey does not provide work of any kind.
These are very important. If we do not follow through with what we say is going to happen, students think we are not serious and we all lose credibility.

12. A display from Books are Fun is in the media center. The order will be called in tomorrow and delivered on Friday.

13. Ms. Powell has developed the afternoon bus duty schedule and Ms. Rhodes has placed it in teachers boxes. The teachers on duty are to load students on bus #175 and #74.

14. I could prove God statistically.
George Gallup (1901 - 1984)

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.
Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)

Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are.
Bertolt Brecht (1898 - 1956)

If you have any doubts that we live in a society controlled by men, try reading down the index of contributors to a volume of quotations, looking for women's names.
