1. Today is Day 180.
2. It is the mission of Speas Elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.
3. Calendar items for this week:

Last Day of School
Dollar Dress Down Day
4. Upcoming Calendar Items:
a. 06/15 - Staff Social at Pinebrook Country Club
b. 06/18 - Report Cards mailed and/or available in the office
5. All Gateway information has been sent to parents in grades 3 and 5. Results for non-proficient 4th grade students go home today. These students do not have a Summer Academy. This is, however, the first notification that they will have to attend tutoring next year.
6. A new construction dumpster has been placed outside the Pre-K/Kindergarten wing between the playground apparatus. Feel free to fill it!
7. The refrigerator will be cleaned out tomorrow 6/11. Please start cleaning food items now.
8. Please collect all KI and 1st grade luggage tags. The transportation department requests that we do this.
9. Classroom teachers: Please remember that you must have someone else sign off on your CUM folders before you leave. If you are unclear as to the correct order of items in the folder, please see Ms. Marston. Remember if they are not done correctly you can be called back during the summer to fix them. If we ship folders to other schools that are not correct, they can send them back to be fixed.
10. Tomorrow, please do not park in the upper parking lot. They are going to bring in the storage trailers and are parking them there. There will be at least four of these and they need room to maneuver. We will have to use the grassy areas between the lower parking lot and the street. You can park along the sidewalk in the lower parking lot as well. We'll have to make do until the trailers are in place.
11. I would like to meet with everyone briefly in the media center following dismissal.
12. Teachers in grades 3 and 5 will need to create a Summer Academy folder for each non-proficient child and a Gateway Folder. I'll make copies of what the contents need to be for each one.
13. All classroom teachers need to prepare a PEP for every non-proficient student. This must be done before leaving for the summer. PEP's should be kept in the CUM folder where they are readily available to next year's teacher.
14. Sometimes when you look in his eyes you get the feeling that someone else is driving.

7. REMINDER: Due to increasing problems with children playing with SILLY BANDS, we have banned them from school for the remainder of the year. Should children come in with them on, do not make an issue of it. Give them an envelope and let them place them inside. Then seal the envelope; put their name on it; and have them put it in their book bag.
8. Today is a Dollar Dress Down Day.
9. Class Picnics are today for grades K-3, 5. They will be held in shady spots around our playground equipment and between the buildings.
10. Today is the last day of the second administration of the EOG. We will be doing make-ups for 3 students Monday-Wednesday. We may have the results of the second administration, with the exception of the few make-up tests remaining, later this afternoon. I will publicize them either this evening or over the weekend.
11. Yesterday we met with the architect and construction supervisors. Ms. Powell has had boxes on order from the warehouse for some time. Chris Radesi told her that he would have 400 delivered along with tape. We look for those to arrive today. Classes in the pod will most likely be moved into storage until their renovated rooms are ready to occupy sometime during the summer. Rooms 1-6a should be completely packed but will most likely not move out until mid-July. Everything must be ready however when you leave school on June 15. Right now they can't finish the first phase because of a delay with the windows. We most likely will not have a Certificate of Occupancy until mid-August when you return from the summer break. That means that life will be stressful at that point. Be prepared to NOT have your rooms set up for Open House. You may not have things set up the way you want them until your are into the school year. There is no PLAN B for this project. Don't hold out false hope that everything will be the way you want it to start the year. There is nothing you can do to change anything so be flexible and go with the flow. Come into it expecting the worst and at that point, the only way to go is up.
12. If you borrowed the video camera from room #3, please return it immediately to Cathy Smith. It is needed for Morning Broadcast next week.
