5. The Statewide Tornado Drill has been moved to Friday, March 5th, at 9:30 AM. The tornado drill will be broadcast over NOAA Weather Radio and will activate the State`s Emergency Alert System including local radio and cable stations. Please make sure that you have practiced with your class prior to the drill.
6. For the next two months, your check will not contain your social security number . At the end of the two month period, the social security number will be replaced with a new specific employee number. This is being done to protect all employees from identity theft.
7. We will begin our after school tutoring program this Wednesday. A schedule of assignments will be placed in your boxes today. I would like to meet all those who can attend this afternoon from 2:40-3:00 in the media center. If you were interested and do not receive a schedule, please attend the meeting. Schedules can always be revised.
8. Ms. Powell will be off-campus all week. If you have disciplinary issues, please send the referrals or requests for assistance to Dr. Reichert.
9. News from Student Council:
a. American Idol Talent Show would love to have staff participation. Please notfiy Mr. Cokley, Ms. Mincer, or Mrs. Fletcher if you would like to participate.
b. Please encourage your students to attend the show. The admission cost is a $1.00. There will be a hotdog and hamburger dinner before the show.
c. Student Council will have a meeting tomorrow, March 3, 2010 @ 1:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Students will need to bring their things. On Thursday please allow a student council rep to speak to your class regarding information from the meeting.
10. Next week's Staff Meeting on Monday will be rescheduled due to the fact that classroom teachers need time to prepare for Partners in Math trainings being held each Monday this month. We'll get you a date as soon as we can work one out.
11. Ms. Spaventa has finished with Access Testing and will begin pulling her regular students today.
12. Please note that the Ron Clark workshop has 75 slots still open for participants. Registration will close Tuesday, 3/2/2010 at 9:00 am. Please encourage anyone still wanting to come to register now. After registration closes, an email will be sent around 10 am to all confirmed registrants with a "ticket" for them to print and bring with them to UNCG for admittance. If you have never heard him, he was the Disney Teacher of the Year! He does a marvelous presentation.
13. We will continue to monitor the weather all day. Right now, if the forecast holds, we will cancel A's and Bees tutoring for this evening. If the school system does cancel all afternoon and evening activities we will make that announcement.
14. There are boxes in the front lobby for donations of cereal to Crisis Control Ministry. We will be collecting full unopened boxes throughout the month.
15. The computing field is always in need of new cliches.
