8. If you have not updated your web page with current information, please do so by Friday, September 11. Administrators have been asked to check all web pages at least once each quarter to insure that pages contain up to date information for parents. We received an e-mail from a citizen yesterday expressing concern that our pages had not been updated. This is an expectation for all teachers in WS/FCS. If you need assistance, please let Ms. Smith know. She will be happy to assist you.
9. There are a lot of students walking around with shirts untucked. Remember that it is every staff member's responsibility to speak to a child regarding this.
10. I visited every regular classroom yesterday. I want to remind everyone that essential questions or lesson objectives should be placed up in the room for each lesson that you teach. This is the first item on the new walk-through form. I would appreciate your help in making this a reality each day.
11. We got a card from Rose yesterday. It reads, "Dear Faculty and Staff, This past year has been a very challenging one for me. I could not have survived without the love and support of all of you. Thank you from the depths of my heart! I hope your year will be a joyous one. Much love- Rose." The card is posted in the mail room.
12. Marlo Gaddis will be here today following the SIT meeting to get us up on Facebook and Twitter. We're entering a whole new realm of communication with parents.

The second bell at 2:20 will be for 2-5 classes to dismiss. The 2:25 bell is the close of school and we will begin loading car riders at that time. We had some issues last week with students getting on the wrong buses and going places they were not supposed to go. We even had a parent come to the office and tell Ms. Rhodes that her daughter was to be a car rider, only to find out that the daughter wasn't registered here.
6. There will be a school Improvement Team Meeting tomorrow at 2:40 in the media center. All staff members are welcome to attend. If your grade level or group, i.e. specialists, classified, etc., has not chosen a SIT representative, please do so today.

10. Remember to get with the individual you are doing a peer observation on and schedule when you would like to do it. These should be completed by Tuesday, September 22. Also remember to take some time and do your self-assessment. If you have questions, please feel free to ask. This is new for all of us.

e. 9/10 - Cub Scout Sign-up Night 7:00 PM
f. 9/15 - Gateway Meeting - 3rd and 5th grade students and parents - 6:00 PM
5. Today is the first day that we will have all Kindergarten students at dismissal. Please be aware of this and provide any help needed to get these children to their cars and buses quickly and safely this afternoon.
6. We are still in the process of testing students for reading levels and ability. Nothing is more critical to student success than to place them in small flexible groups that are tuned to their specific needs and performance levels. For this reason we will not begin guided reading in grades 3-5 using our Title-1 staff until testing is complete and children are assigned to groups. The Title-1 staff should assist the classroom teachers with any remaining testing and assessment that needs to be completed so this can begin promptly. Any down time the Title-1 staff may have should be directed toward getting materials (charts, etc.) and grade levels ready for all students to pass off on math facts. The expectation is that all 3-5 grade students will pass off on the math facts associated with the operations appropriate to their grade level by the end of the school year.
7. Remember that our dismissal time is 2:10 for K-1 classes and 2:15 for 2-5. We will begin our normal dismissal times of 2:15 for K-1 and 2:20 for 2-5 on Monday.
8. Be sure to send any remaining Parent Surveys to Ms. Rhodes.
9. This is a reminder that Ms. Uzcatequi meets her classes in their classrooms. Spanish classes will not be held in room #1.
10. Special Thanks! I want to thank everyone who worked yesterday at Kindergarten Screening. It is a huge undertaking and it went very smoothly. Thanks to Ms. Marston for her organization and monitoring and Ms. Spaventa and Ms. Uzcatequi for their help in translation. They were busy from the beginning to the end. I also want to thank Ms. Sabbagh Rabaiotti who is completing the EC Class Size form for our vacant LD resource position.
11. It has been a busy first week, but things are beginning to settle out. I want to express my appreciation for all the time and effort each of you have put into making this week a positive experience for children and families. You've earned a weekend!
12. As a reminder, lesson plans and newsletters should be submitted electronically to Ms. Rhodes by 8:00 AM Monday morning. If you have not sent her an electronic copy of your schedule please do so by Monday morning as well.
13. All classified staff members should turn in their time sheets by 12:00 PM today.

Welcome Back
We want to welcome back all of our staff for the beginning of the 2009-2010. This is a year to celebrate our successes and embrace our challenges. While we have much to be proud of from the 2008-2009 school year, there is also much room for improvement. We will continue our work with Marzano and Technology and add to it a focus on Teacher Directed Reading. We will implement a new Teacher Evaluation Instrument from DPI; increase the emphasis on Professional Learning Communities (PLC's); and make greater use of both the classroom walk-through process and EVAAS data. We are welcoming many new faces this year so be prepared to embrace these individuals into the Speas family. We will gather together next Monday, August 17, at 8:00 AM. We look forward to seeing each of you then.
