1. Today is Day 4.
2. It is the mission of Speas elementary School to provide its students with the tools necessary to successfully meet the challenges they will face in a diverse world.
3. Calendar items for this week:
Thursday: August 28
Kindergarten – All students attend
Behavior Assembly – K - 8:15-8:45 (Gym)
Classified staff leaves 30 minutes early
Friday: August 29
Classified staff leaves 30 minutes early
4. Please remember to fill out an Air Quality Complaint Form whenever issues arise. We will verify your report and send it in to maintenance.
5. Classified staff members leave at 2:45 today and tomorrow.
6. There will be a Behavior Assembly today for all Kindergarten classes at 8:15 AM. Please be in the gym and seated so we can begin promptly. Classes will not be called.
7. We are planning a Fire Drill for today if we don't have issues with rain.l hold off until Thursday since we have all the Kindergarten students and their parents at K-screening today.
8. Social Committee does a lot of wonderful work here at Speas. They represent all of us in family emergencies, family celebrations, and faculty activities. This of course costs money. Dues are now due. Membership is $25. Check should be made out to Speas Elementary School. Do not make them out to Ms. Johnson. Social Committee is not a personal account.
9. Today is the first day for all Kindergarten students to attend. This may cause a back-up in the cafeteria. Please be prepared for this eventuality. Arriving on-time at the cafeteria is very important in order for us to remain on schedule.
10. Toni Bigham will be here this morning from 10:00-12:00 going over the Self-Assessment portion the Principals' Evaluation Instrument.

12. Whenever there is bad weather at afternoon dismissal, the following locations will be used for specific buses: 2nd Grade Hallway - Bus #175; Media Center - Bus #71.
These locations will no longer be announced over the intercom.
